FOOD TASTING @ GRAND COPTHORNE WATERFRONT HOTEL

This post is for the benefit of Uncle Craig who couldn't be in Singapore for the food tasting on Tuesday night. The service at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel was excellent. I'm the appointed flowergirl, which is a very important role (I know!), but the hotel really treats their VIPs very well. I didn't want to eat any shark's fins soup (Mummy has boycotted that dish for the last 15 years and I'm not about to start eating it myself!) and other "big people" food, so the hotel arranged for me to have all the keropok, buttered rolls and strawberry ice cream I wanted to eat! They even gave me a teddy bear at the end of the meal. Very impressive indeed! :)

Daddy, who was the photographer for the night, enjoyed the meal very much. He polished off 2 portions of almost everything because my Morning Sickness Mummy was "throw-uppity" and couldn't swallow much...

Here're some pictures of the "big people" food:

I think Chia Yee was pleased with her choice for the upcoming wedding banquet. For the actual event, the noodle and taro cream dessert will be replaced by a 10-item dessert buffet. Sounds heavenly!

Oops, didn't mean to keep so silent for so long, but my typist has fallen victim to morning sickness! She's been really miserable, so I couldn't possibly put pressure on her to type my blog!
Lots have happened since my last entry in April. Most significantly, Mummy's due in December 2007. Her gynae estimates the due date to be on 6 December, which coincidentally, is my birthday! A sibling will be such a lovely gift for my 3rd birthday! I can't wait to be a Big Sister! I talk to the baby through Mummy's belly button every day. :)

Owing to my Mummy's condition, she's not been able to take me to all the fun places, but I've been attending my classes at Growing Up Gifted twice a week religiously. One day, a new student joined my class. An Australian girl who's a head taller than me called Anna. I made friends with Anna, who's a chatty girl like me. At my next lesson, I had a pleasant surprise. Someone had accompanied Anna to class and I know her! It was Lis!!! Lis had left my household to work for Anna's household in February. I was so stunned to see Lis I was at a loss for words. Eventually, I gave Lis a hug and it brought tears to her eyes.

Lis told Ah Gong that she takes Anna to a playground in their neighbourhood everyday between 4 to 6 pm and invited us to join them. Miraculously, Mummy experienced a window of well-being this afternoon and we were able to join Anna and Lis at the playground! There were many children in the playground, all kids of expatriates living in Singapore, and Anna knew many of them. Lis introduced me to a few of the children and we played in the sand pit together. I had brought my bucket and spade, and so did they. I had so much fun that I didn't want to go home. Ipa literally had to tear me away from the sandpit. I hugged Anna and Lis, and promised to join them again one day.

Anna will be 3 years old in September. Lis said that Anna feeds herself, brings her empty plate to the sink all the time, dresses herself and takes a bath herself. Mummy could scarcely believe her ears. Oh dear, now she'll expect me to pull up my socks and I really can't imagine life without Ipa doing all those things for me...

I've got a new playmate staying with me at the moment. My "Chia Yee" (Mummy's younger sister) is back in Singapore for a visit. Chia Yee lives in London and hasn't been home since I was 6 months old, but I had no problems recognising her at the airport. Ah Gong shows me pictures of Chia Yee all the time, and I speak to her on Skype quite regularly. Chia Yee asked me if I wanted to go to London, and I answered "No." She was surprised and asked me why. I told her it's because London Bridge is falling down! Chia Yee laughed and I muttered "It's a joke".

Chia Yee and Uncle Craig will be getting married in October, and they've asked me to be the flowergirl. I'm so excited! Got to practise throwing petals on the ground from now on!

Two weeks ago, something sinister happened in my neighbourhood. Someone broke into House Nos. 3, 3A, 3B and my house! Ipa discovered the break in when she woke up in the morning. She had found the back door ajar, and alerted Ah Gong immediately. Ah Gong didn't find anything missing, and so he didn't ring the police immediately. He made arrangements for the contractors to fix our door, which had been forced open, and to install additional security measures. Later that day, Daddy saw a box of half-eaten cherries sitting in the garden. He asked Ah Ma if the box of cherries belonged to us and she recognised it as the box of cherries she'd bought recently. Strangely enough, the burglar had broken into our house and had only stolen a box of cherries! Ah Gong rang the police and reported on the strange incident. The police investigated the case, and it was only the following few days that we found out that House Nos. 3, 3A and 3B had been broken into as well on the very same night. Those houses had cash taken from them. :(

My typist's tired, so I'll catch up with everyone again some other day... Ciao.
